Tejal Yoga turns 4! Thanks to you!

Tejal Yoga turns 4! It’s been four exhilarating years of offering Tejal Yoga practices virtually with a focus on people, justice, decolonization, and cultural shifts.

Of course, we did not get here alone.

This platform started like many virtual yoga teacher platforms did. Once it was confirmed that due to the pandemic studios would shut down (with good reason!) and without group classes and private client income, I like many others shifted completely to virtual teaching. I had already been managing online spaces with the abcdyogi community (since 2018) and the Yoga is Dead Podcast (since 2019) that building out Tejal Yoga online felt like a natural added effort.

Over time, I gravitated towards bringing on a full roster of teachers to offer classes and hold space for our growing global whole community. I thought we were lacking spaces led by South Asian teachers and it made total sense to shift in this group led direction. We still need more spaces for our juicy South Asian teaching goodness!!!

For some of our teachers it’s been 2.5 years of teaching weekly at Tejal Yoga, not to mention all the guest teacher weekends before that (remember those)!!! And other teachers are newer and also well loved! I never tire of hearing any version of this:

“It’s been a really lovely month, I love the community you’ve created, being a part of it, both in teaching and in attending sessions.”

♥️♥️♥️

As we continue to look forward and expand in wonderful ways like with the recent addition of Embodied Reflections, Body-Positive Flow, 1 on 1 connection calls, and Ayurveda workshops and consultations, let’s also take a moment to revisit what we’re all about.

We are devoted to more than just movement and are continually updating and adding classes that speak to ALL of yoga!

We are dedicated to anti-racism, inclusive, accessible and trauma-informed teaching, fair pay and equitable pricing, and uplifting South Asian, BIPOC, and TGNC2SI teachers and activists.

We’ve contributed over $8,000 to direct mutual aid requests, current events disaster relief, and organization/community fundraisers.

Over half our members receive scholarship member pricing as a dynamic solution in order to reduce barriers of access to our practices and increase overall well being.

Of course, we don’t know what the future will hold for anyone of us, we are so grateful for this moment of reflection.

Thank you for continuing to choose our practices and share about this community with the people you care about. We appreciate you!
